Education

Education is in our knowledge society one of the most important instruments for individual and social development. The challenges and responsibilities of our educational institutions are therefore formidable and their management complex. Society constantly sets high standards on achievements and accountability. A few current topics:

- How do you manage the achievements of your organization?
- How can the professionalism of the staff be reinforced?
- How do you develop a successful and durable change strategy?
- How do you anticipate to the retirement of 75% of your staff for the coming years?
- How do you develop new, widely supported policies successfully?

Higher Education
Institutions of Higher Education play an important part in realizing to achieve a larger share of the highly educated on the labour market. More demands on the quality of education are also made. This will only be possible if the teachers are highly motivated and of high-quality. Education which will be moulded together with future employers.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)
In the years to come, vocational education will face an enormous power struggle; with less available financial means it will have to introduce a new competence based framework of qualifications and it will have to fight too high numbers of drop-outs. Furthermore, society makes higher demands on vocational education in relation to quality and focus on the labour market, and is a strong advocate of continuous study streams, right through, lower, secondary and higher vocational education.

All these are meaningful challenges to the management of the various institutions of vocational education at all levels. Strictly speaking there are only two internal instruments to realize these challenges: funding and human power. With these, first of all a strong empowerment of staff professionalism has to be realized from an active and innovative internal HRM policy. Secondly, quality and results have to be strongly managed. These two instruments, together with a good organization and a well aligned governance structure, will make all the difference to succeed in the future.

Secondary and Primary Education
Primary and secondary education in the Netherlands is on the move and there is a strong focus on both talent development and the quality of education. Schools and their management invest firmly in professionalization and are confronted with many questions as to the ambitions of their social responsibility, the added value of the school, matters of governance, quality policies and HRM.
