Challenges

After the collapse of volumes and a decline of revenues due to the global crisis in 2008 / 09, the recovery of world trade and production has resulted, for the Supply chain, in complex scenarios, which are characterized by:

  • The eternal worries of the SC as the need to balance Customer Service with the absolute demand to reduce inventories and logistic costs, or the nightmare to support the continuous growing of complexity of the corporate business.
  • The requirements of the current situation as the growth of market uncertainty – the change in “developing countries” which are no longer just places to relocate production to, but also emerging markets rich of opportunity.

To deal with this situation, Corporate Executives and Supply Chain Managers of Manufacturing, Retail and 3PL industries , should strive to answer some key questions, such as:

  • How to modify the Supply Chain for improving customer service while keeping inventories and operational costs at an optimal level;
  • What to do to adapt the existing warehousing system (number, positioning, technology, operational processes) to the genuine needs of customers and of the company;
  • What to do to improve inventory management processes and reduce working capital without affecting customer service;
  • How to adapt the supply chain in order to support the growth of business complexity without losing focus on the business, efficiency and effectiveness;
  • What to do to extend and develop the operations of the Supply Chain (production and sale) in the more dynamic international markets, which is key for corporate business.
